KITCHENER-WATERLOO BRANCH NEWS

KW-RWTO is delighted to welcome you to our site and to invite retired women teachers from the Kitchener-Waterloo area to join us.

We are very proud that our branch will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary during this 2011/2012 year. We are marking this celebration by beginning a Children's Library at the newly opened location of Anselma House (Waterloo Region Women's Crisis Services). Our committment is to continue to support the growth of this library.

The KW-RWTO Branch holds four luncheons a year. These are held in the ballroom at the Walper Terrace Hotel in downtown Kitchener. Each luncheon begins at 11:30 with a Mix and Mingle where tea, coffee and ice water are served. Members have the opportunity to circulate and visit with friends and former colleagues.

The Mix and Mingle is followed by a served luncheon featuring soup or salad, an entree and dessert with tea or coffee. The luncheon is followed by a speaker of interest or some variety of entertainment. Luncheon meetings for the 2011/2012 year are scheduled for:

  • Thursday, September 22, 2011
  • Thursday, November 24, 2011
  • Thursday, March 22, 2012
  • Thursday, May 24, 2012

The KW-RWTO Branch is committed to giving support to our charities. To mark our 50th Anniversary we are beginning a Children's Library at Anselma House (Waterloo Region Women's Crisis Services) and are committed to adding to this collection. As well, we continue to support Marillac Place with our Christmas Gift contributions.

In addition to our meetings, we have been getting together for day trips twice each year. We've visited such places as the Railway Schoolhouse in Clinton, the Famous People Players Theatre in Toronto, Niagara Wine Country, Mennonnite Country and we've boarded the Credit Valley Explorer for a train ride to view the fall colours. This past summer we met for tea at Langdon Hall.

The benefits of membership in RWTO are explained here.

Annual membership for the KW-RWTO Branch is $40.00. Retired women teachers are eligible to join at any time.
